Almost every year, the Hung Tao Choy Mei Leadership Institute selects an artist who has provided exemplary service to the community. We present the Paul Robeson "Here I Stand" award after interviewing the honoree on stage. We also provide a showcase for local artists, including the children that attend our Kung Fu institute. It's a chance to bring the community together, learn how to help each other and have a good time. We hope you'll come and have an unforgettable evening.

Performing live on stage will be:
Malcom X Drummers and Dancers, Whratnala USA, Ivy Rose Band,
Urban Artistry, ISA Miss Teen Philippines Chessa Toboada, Dragon Princess Olivia Zhang, and Hung Tao Choy Mei "Lucky Lions" and Thunder Drummers.

Tickets are also on sale at Ticketmaster or the Lincoln Theatre box office for $27.50 (Mon-Fri 10am-6pm).

Adams Morgan Main Street hosts the 34th annual Adams Morgan Day Festival on Sunday, Sept 9, 2012.  Main location is 18th Street N.W. between Columbia Rd and Florida; with Kid's Fair & special pavilions at Marie Reed School.  More than 25 different cultures are represented in this keenly anticipated event from Noon to 7 PM. "Arts on Belmont" opens at 10am.  The Festival theme, "Rediscover Adams Morgan," invites everyone to experience both the Cultural Street Festival and all the area has to offer, including local restaurants and retail, and especially the new streetscape.  Adams Morgan has a range of exciting shopping and dining in all price ranges. 

Adams Morgan Day is known for its live music, cultural, and dance performances, Kid's Fair and popular "Arts on Belmont."  Varied international foods abound not only from vendors, but from Adams Morgan's sidewalk cafes and restaurants. About the Malcolm X Drummers and Dancers

The Malcolm X Drummers and Dancers are a group of tremendously talented artists that grew out of the cultural experience demonstrated at Malcolm X Park and is founded by Doc Powell. Drummers from all walks of life, and from every level of drumming abilities, other musicians of all varieties, and spectators of all nationalities and ages, come together and create a wonderful expression of creative energies. From this setting, arose a group of performing artists called the Malcolm X Drummers and Dancers.
